A variety from the Preface:
Although the name of this [book] could seem, to a few who've now not learn its contents, to be either presumptuous and unwarrantable, it really is was hoping that those will reserve their judgment till they've got given due awareness and attention to the learn of such a huge subject.
We reside in unusual occasions. Civilization turns out speedily to be breaking apart, whereas but a few internal urge is at paintings in the direction of a greater and extra balanced building in could departments of life.
One of the result of the good battle has been to show the minds of many folks from many of the narrower conceptions of lifestyles into wider channels. A spirit of enquiry has develop into obvious at the a part of those that had formerly been content material to simply accept statements in regard to life's deeper concerns on mere trust or rumour. Many new hobbies have arisen below the advice of people that have got at the very least a partial glimpse of man's wider background, and there was a corresponding falling clear of what will be termed the orthodox or status quo of items within the church buildings and in other places. many nations were making experiments of varied varieties, such a lot of which, besides the fact that, being the end result of "reform pursuits" of the narrowest kind, are fast proving themselves to be unsatisfactory and insufficient. at this time, amid these kinds of symptoms, there turns out to were no entire resolution in sight, and, so it could seem, little or no comprehension, even at the a part of people who are in truth doing their most sensible lower than the situations, of the underlying rules concerned. those that may still relatively be able to aid, are not able to take action successfully for a similar reason.
It could seem a miles cry from the current international- stipulations of a social and political nature to the Holy Qabalah, yet support occasionally comes from particularly unforeseen sources.
The Jews, and the Jewish challenge, characterize vitally important points of the trouble and its resolution. a superb share of the wealth of the realm is this day within the fingers of the Jews, but as a kingdom they've got no position. because the "chosen humans" they have been a massive country, however the rejection of the instructor in who they anticipated to discover their Messiah, is mostly thought of to were the reason for their changing into wanderers upon the face of the Earth. but the be aware "Jew" is derived from IU, the Ever-Coming Son, the Horus of the earliest Egyptian traditions, whose impression isn't restricted to the Christian period yet extends to every age, and of Whom all really regular God-Men, corresponding to Jesus, were, and are, the representatives upon earth.
But the Jews have missed the research in their personal "Chokmah Nestorah," or mystery knowledge culture, as transmitted within the Holy Qabalah, hence wasting sight in their actual Will as a country and their crucial goal within the nice artistic Plan. It has remained for the Gentile to rediscover a few of the deeper mysteries of this old knowledge, and those are came upon to be a similar in essence as these of Catholicism, Freemasonry, Pythagorean Philosophy, Hermeticism, etc; actually there has consistently been a common culture which whilst recognized has led the international locations to the peak of civilization, and whilst misplaced has heralded their decline and downfall.
The current world-crisis and breaking apart of civilization is because of the need of a common "clean-up" preparatory to a much broader and grander notion being awarded to humanity than has been attainable for plenty of hundreds of thousands of years. All pondering humans become aware of that issues are in a serious , and all might be ready to know any average chance of acquiring an answer that allows you to be of everlasting, instead of of transitority value.
Things can't be placed correct with out attempt, and the query arises: "In what course is attempt such a lot necessary?"

Example text

Now to come back to the grasping that rises through the six sense-doors. When people see, they think of themselves or others as being permanent, as having existed before, as existing now, as going to exist in future, as existing always. They think of them as being happy, good or beautiful. They think of them as being living entities. They think likewise when they hear, smell, taste or touch. This “touch” is widespread all over the body -- wherever there is flesh and blood. And wherever touch arises, there can arise grasping.

Only you may not be able to say the brightness is its characteristic, dispelling of darkness is its function, or its shape or outline is its manifestation. But you see them all the same. In the same way, when you meditate on the rising mind and matter, you know its characteristic, its function, its manifestation, everything. You need not learn them. Some learned persons think that you have to learn them before you meditate. Not so. What you learn are only name concepts. Not realities. The meditator who is contemplating the rising mind and matter knows them as if he were touching them with his own hand.

It is grasping. Others may think it is bad, but to the doer it is good. If he thinks it is not good, of course he will not do it. There is a noteworthy passage in King Asoka’s inscriptions: “One thinks well of one’s work. ” A thief steals because it is good to him to steal. A robber robs people because he thinks it is good to rob. A killer kills because he thinks it is good to kill. Ajatasattu killed his own father, King Bimbisara. He thought it was good.
